A Secret Wedding in October

Bobbi & Max

Bobbi was a long-time Whirly Girl fan and attended several pop-ups and classes in the early years here in Sheridan. When she and Max decided to have a secret elopement in 2020 at their Wyoming ranch, Talking Waters, I was elated to make a simple bouquet and boutonniere for their moment together. She gave me full creative control, and I used some wild bittersweet vines, dried craspedia, and fresh roses for her bouquet.

Cassie Madden captured all the joy of the blustery day with their single witness and dear friend.

As I tell all my couples, your day is yours. Embrace it. Make it what you want it. Bobbi and Max embraced this, wearing outfits they pulled from their closets in the morning and got married in a place they loved with a friend to witness. No rules, just LOVE.

Congratulations!

Luke & Elise - Destination Wedding

Elise grew up spending her summers in the shadow of the Big Horn Mountains while visiting family near Sheridan, WY. When it came time to plan a wedding and future with Luke, saying “I DO” in a personal and meaningful spot was only natural.

They planned an intimate wedding weekend with their nearest and dearest -just 43 people - to celebrate their union. Surrounded by their family and friends, they hosted a creekside ceremony under the trees.

Sheridan, WY-based wedding photographer, Cassie Madden Photography, captured the entire day and all of the magic.

In lieu of a traditional wedding party, their three dogs joined the wedding and wore floral collars in tones to match Elise’s bouquet in lavender, peach, and orange.

Every element of their wedding was individualized and they chose their personal favorite colors for the wedding. Orange for Luke, Purple for Elise. We blended the two colors together using peach and lavender tones. Elise preferred a bouquet that was more formal and less wild so we opted for less greenery, lots of roses, and a few delicate elements to bring in a wildflower feeling like purple asters, lavender Limonium, and peach hypericum.

Rather than bringing in another element for their ceremony along the creek, we used the trees as a base for our ceremony arbor. Their wedding arch on the tree flowed up the trunk and over their heads and was full of roses and deep purple delphinium. This piece was created and built on-site using a chickenwire base stuffed with meadowgrass and simply wired to the tree. For my florist friends out there - no floral foam was used!

Using their love of food and wine as a guide, they planned a 5-course tasting dinner with Travis Sorenson, chef at Birch, complete with wine pairings at the lovely Barn in Big Horn. This was the perfect reception venue for their intimate party and an evening of lawn games and celebrating.

To allow for conversation and visibility across their large, horseshoe-shaped table, we used a collection of hand-thrown pottery vases scattered down the table. Their bar was accented by a tall and dramatic elevated floral piece.

A Brinton Museum Elopement - Styled Shoot

CM5_7818.jpg

Any chance to flower with friends at a favorite venue is a dream. When Ashley called to see if I wanted to play and create for the 2021 Wyoming edition of Rocky Mountain Bride - I jumped at the opportunity.

We chose to play off of the natural colors at The Brinton Museum and the rammed earth wall that anchors the space with pops of blue and white.

I used tweedia, spirea, and panda anemones along with orange butterfly ranunculus, delphinium, and other textural elements to create a lush and wild centerpiece for their elopement dinner table and a Spring inspired bridal bouquet.

The weather was wet and windy the day of our shoot and instead of setting up outside as planned, we made a cozy spot near the Bistro upstairs and made the most of it.

ENJOY!

A Thursday Wedding

I met Lindsey shortly after moving to Sheridan four years ago and trusted my pixie head to her capable hands at Philosophy Hair Studio. She’s kept my signature look sharp since then and we’ve built a friendship over regular haircuts, holiday dinners, birthday celebrations, and evenings around the campfire with a beer and our guys.

She and Beau decided to host a private ceremony on a Thursday evening surrounded by their families and a small party with friends at the Barn in Big Horn to celebrate their marriage. Bonafide brought the love with an epic taco bar and Cheyenne, WY-based wedding photographer Liz Osban captured every moment. Making flowers for dear friends is an honor and this was no exception. She requested classic white with pops of her absolutely favorite orange and yellow accents in her bouquet. Playing with textures and colors is my favorite and this bouquet is no exception.

We love you two and can’t wait for more nights with drippy tacos and drinks around the fire.

A Brightly Colored Polo Club Wedding

2018 was a year full of varied color palette - such a treat! Unlike past years with back to back repeating themes, no two weekends were alike. Jake and Tiffany choose a bright color scheme with hot pink and orange highlighted with purple for their wedding and reception at the Big Horn Equestrian Center. I used a few types of roses and spray roses along with purple clematis nestled into a variety of eucalyptus.
