Luke & Elise - Destination Wedding

Elise grew up spending her summers in the shadow of the Big Horn Mountains while visiting family near Sheridan, WY. When it came time to plan a wedding and future with Luke, saying “I DO” in a personal and meaningful spot was only natural.

They planned an intimate wedding weekend with their nearest and dearest -just 43 people - to celebrate their union. Surrounded by their family and friends, they hosted a creekside ceremony under the trees.

Sheridan, WY-based wedding photographer, Cassie Madden Photography, captured the entire day and all of the magic.

In lieu of a traditional wedding party, their three dogs joined the wedding and wore floral collars in tones to match Elise’s bouquet in lavender, peach, and orange.

Every element of their wedding was individualized and they chose their personal favorite colors for the wedding. Orange for Luke, Purple for Elise. We blended the two colors together using peach and lavender tones. Elise preferred a bouquet that was more formal and less wild so we opted for less greenery, lots of roses, and a few delicate elements to bring in a wildflower feeling like purple asters, lavender Limonium, and peach hypericum.

Rather than bringing in another element for their ceremony along the creek, we used the trees as a base for our ceremony arbor. Their wedding arch on the tree flowed up the trunk and over their heads and was full of roses and deep purple delphinium. This piece was created and built on-site using a chickenwire base stuffed with meadowgrass and simply wired to the tree. For my florist friends out there - no floral foam was used!

Using their love of food and wine as a guide, they planned a 5-course tasting dinner with Travis Sorenson, chef at Birch, complete with wine pairings at the lovely Barn in Big Horn. This was the perfect reception venue for their intimate party and an evening of lawn games and celebrating.

To allow for conversation and visibility across their large, horseshoe-shaped table, we used a collection of hand-thrown pottery vases scattered down the table. Their bar was accented by a tall and dramatic elevated floral piece.

A Blush Dream at the Powder Horn

BLISS_JORDAN_WEDDING2021-3520.jpg

When I asked Bliss and Jordan to describe how they wanted their wedding day to feel, they told me luxurious, romantic, and fun. We mixed blush and cream with black accents for their wedding flowers.

For any June wedding, peonies are a must! We used peonies in white and pale pinks along with garden roses, ranunculus, white hydrangeas, and eucalyptus for their flowers. Bouquets for the ladies were classic round bouquets with minimal greenery and we made a draped fabric arbor for their wedding with lush flowers. Bliss paired them with classy black hurricanes for half of the tables at the reception with gold centerpieces for the rest of the tables.

A.Ribordy Photography captured their day at the Powder Horn near Sheridan WY. Gather Events Co. provided exceptional planning and coordination for our vendor team to pull off this dream day.

A Powder Horn Wedding in Sage & Pink

Jessen and Randy live in the big city but have a love for Sheridan, WY, and the Big Horns. They several times a year to relax and recharge so it only made sense to plan their destination wedding at the Powder Horn where they spend perfect summer days golfing together. Despite the challenges of planning and hosting an event during the pandemic, they had a relaxed and fun day together with the people they love and became Mr and Mrs under towering trees on a warm August afternoon.

I got to work with the Sheridan Vendor dream team for this event and am so grateful for the collaboration!

Jessen asked for a wild and full floral piece to surround a large elk rack attached to their arbor. I filled it with eucalyptus, blush larkspur, and roses. In my pursuit of more sustainable floristry practices, I built an armature of chicken wire filled with discarded leaves to anchor the flowers on the arch. It was nearly 100* while I was setting up the flowers which is always difficult and concerning with a fresh product and no water source. They all got a good misting and final spray before I left and they held up perfectly for the ceremony.

They hosted an outdoor reception on a tented patio, combining more rustic elements of birch centerpieces filled with roses in ivory and blush with rose-gold glamour in table mirrors and votives.

A Blustery June Wedding at the Brinton

These sweethearts planned a beautiful June wedding at The Brinton Museum. The second weekend in June is a fickle little window - it can be 90* and sunny baking every new green shoot or blustery and cold with freezing rain pounding the ground. While everyone hopes for something balmy and right in the middle, we battled strong winds and frigid rain while setting up their wedding.

Unexpected weather is just one reason hiring the right vendor team is essential. While Megan and John got dressed, had their first look, and welcomed their guests, the staff at the Brinton hustled to empty an entire gallery and set up seating for their guests inside.

Realizing no weather could dampen their love, these two said their "I do's" inside the museum and then moved to the tent for a reception with their friends. Thankfully the rain cleared, and Alexyane Palmer Photography captured them in front of the freshly dusted Big Horn Mountains.

At their request, I included a number of feathers that John had harvested and saved for their wedding. Beautiful, long pheasant tail feathers were added to their bouquets and centerpieces and shorter feathers to boutonnières. Adding these little personalized elements was fun and the first of many times I included feathers in 2020. Bouquets featured ruffled white peonies and ranunculus along with eucalyptus and perfect spirea.
