The 100 Yard Bouquet

When Braidyn reached out about a last minute elopement styled-shoot in the Big Horn Mountains, I was excited to participate and jumped at the chance to test my ingenuity. I’ve found that floristry is 50% cleaning and planning, 40% problem solving and 10% making the beautiful things it seems. We didn’t have a flower budget for the shoot and so I proposed a wild and 100% foraged bouquet. Since they were adventuring into the National Forest, I had to consider what things I could include that would be weed-free and wouldn’t introduce non-native plants into the wild. I originally envisioned lots of tall grass heads and textural bits but these were excluded as a result of the location.

Everything in this bouquet was collected (with permission) from my block. Chokecherry, aspen, and spirea branches with perennial sweet pea tendrils, flowering linden, dried poppy pods and a few big iris seed heads.

While this was a fun exercise for testing my design skills and creating something for an editorial setting, it’s not practical for an actual wedding. In most cases I can’t rely on my neighbors to provide all the goods for making something gorgeous and I use a variety of farms and wholesalers to bring in all the flower magic to pull off an event.

A Blush Dream at the Powder Horn

BLISS_JORDAN_WEDDING2021-3520.jpg

When I asked Bliss and Jordan to describe how they wanted their wedding day to feel, they told me luxurious, romantic, and fun. We mixed blush and cream with black accents for their wedding flowers.

For any June wedding, peonies are a must! We used peonies in white and pale pinks along with garden roses, ranunculus, white hydrangeas, and eucalyptus for their flowers. Bouquets for the ladies were classic round bouquets with minimal greenery and we made a draped fabric arbor for their wedding with lush flowers. Bliss paired them with classy black hurricanes for half of the tables at the reception with gold centerpieces for the rest of the tables.

A.Ribordy Photography captured their day at the Powder Horn near Sheridan WY. Gather Events Co. provided exceptional planning and coordination for our vendor team to pull off this dream day.

Blush wedding details in June

This dreamy blush and burgundy wedding took place on a gorgeous day in June at the Brinton Museum near Sheridan, WY. We used roses in a variety of tones including creamy white, pale pink and, deep red with the lushest peonies of the season. Our incredible vendor team included planning by Pink Diamond Events, Catering and Venue at The Brinton Museum, and photography by Tamara Grunner.

Introducing: Tiny Wedding Flower Packages!

Helene todd august 2019.jpeg

From the day I started Whirly Girl Flowers I’ve been asked about packages and pricing. I’ve always resisted standard packages as each couple and event is unique and it’s hard to have a one-size-fits-all offering for flowers. Ultimately, I want to make flower magic for fellow flower lovers. I want to make flower dreams come true and bring flowers to events, even if they’re small. After so much resistance, it’s finally here (but completely customizable).

This package starts at $995 and comes with the season’s best flowers and is influenced by your chosen color palette and style for the day. It’s the no-fuss answer for those with modest budgets and trusts in my design skills to bring a dream to life. Whether you’re planning a traditional wedding and want flowers for your bridal party or you’re planning a micro wedding in the Sheridan area, this is a great option.

To start: a bouquet for the bride and a coordinating boutonnière (or flower pocket sq)

Choose your own adventure for the rest, pick one of the following!

  • Bridal party flowers for 1-4 attendants each - includes bouquets for 1-4 attendants and boutonnières to match. Smaller parties = bigger bouquets or the option to add another item (like ceremony flowers or bulk DIY greenery)

    OR

  • Ceremony flowers - planning to have an arch or arbor for your ceremony? Let’s add flowers! Want a ground meadow? or large pieces for barrel toppers? So many options for your event.

    OR

  • Reception flowers - 3-5 ready-to-go centerpieces, Lush and full, beautiful, and ready to party. Simply set and go! More guests and a handful of helpers? Maybe the DIY flower option is more your style. Receive flowers for up to 15 DIY tables for simple styling in bud vases or jars you provide.

Romantic Ranch Styled Shoot

DSCF8568.jpeg

Transporting the essence of a wild west elopement into a styled shoot, I planned this creative day with friend and fellow wedding vendor Mandy of MC Picture Co. We curated a breathtaking elopement shoot on her family ranch that seamlessly blended rugged romance with refined elegance.

The groom epitomized Western charm, donning a burgundy velvet jacket complemented by a classic black cowboy hat. Adding a touch of rustic elegance, the bride graced the scene in a reclaimed vintage dress, a testament to sustainability. She completed her look with vibrant red boots, infusing a bold and adventurous flair into her ensemble.

The floral arrangements, featuring delicate sweetpeas and exotic Anthurium, complemented the untamed setting, creating a visual feast for the eyes. This styled shoot celebrated love against the rugged backdrop of Wyoming and embraced sustainable fashion, making it a unique and unforgettable Wild West-inspired elopement.

I’ll always be a fan of men with flowers, this image takes the cake for my favorite shot EVER.
