An August wedding in Blush and Burgundy

Hillary and Matt planned a romantic August wedding at the Brinton Museum in Big Horn, WY. They wanted something romantic and a little sultry and the weather made sure to bring the heat.

We used her colors of grey, deep red, and blush to influence our flower choices. Quicksand roses were the star of the show, with grevelia and eucalyptus filling out the design.

The men wore charcoal grey suits and the ladies a deep cabernet dress in varied styles to fit their individual styles.

Their day was full of joy and happy tears and a party with those they love. All of it was captured by Cassie Madden Photography and Morningstar Films.

A Micro wedding in Wyoming

When planning a June wedding in Wyoming you risk all types of weather. It could be blustery, wet, and maybe even snow. Or, as we experienced for Delaney and Kalvin - the sun could be scorching hot with the wind blowing like a furnace. When I pulled onto the ranch for their wedding, my car read 102*.

Like most couples getting married in 2020, the plans changed for their wedding. Instead of the large gathering with family and friends from across the country at the family ranch where they met, these two decided to keep their wedding date and pare back the guestlist for a micro wedding on their family ranch.

We pivoted to an intimate ceremony overlooking the vast Wyoming prairie with the Big Horn Mountains in the distance but kept the lush garden roses and peonies from our original plan. The weekend was coordinated by Ashley Marie Weddings, Catered by Bonafide Food, and captured by Nate Griffin of Nashville, TN.

Due to the heat and extreme wind we faced that afternoon, I built the foundations of the ceremony pillars in an outbuilding and then transferred them to the ceremony spot in the back of our truck. Instead of our first plan over looking the valley on the edge of the bluff, we tucked into a juniper grove. This spot still had stunning views but was protected from the 30+mph gusts coming off the hot prairie below.

Congratulations to the sweetest couple!

A Black and White Wedding at the Brinton Museum

Jake and Audrey planned a glamorous black and white wedding at The Brinton Museum in August. The ladies all in black dresses of their choosing, the men wearing dark charcoal suits with skinny black ties. The amber glass jars she picked for the reception sparked my imagination and helped me pick a few unique flower and foliage choices for her bouquet.

Audrey provided me with some inspiration and general color preferences and left the rest up to me. We planned to keep the design neutral in color with deep greens, incorporating her favorite eucalyptus and large garden roses. She trusted me with the rest, and I even used gorgeous, warm beige-colored carnations as a base for bouquets. Thinking of candlelight shining through her amber glass, I added gold kangaroo paws to mimic the flame. They were a favorite with everyone.

Fun trivia - the bride, myself, and their photographer all graduated from Colorado State University - Go Rams!!

I'm forever grateful to Cassie Rosch, Photographer, for capturing every glorious angle of the flowers and sharing them with me.

For their ceremony under the trees, the groom’s father made a modern steel arbor to frame the space. His creation was a surprise to both the bride and groom, who saw it for the first time on their wedding day. Adding spectacular flowers was a dream.

Whenever possible, I encourage couples to choose a table linen other than the standard white. The simple change to black table cloths with the added amber glass and dark greenery made these tables pop.

Congratulations!
