A white wedding in June

While these two live in South Dakota, they returned to Banner, Wy for a woodland wedding hosted at a family property. Their ceremony was held in a riverside meadow, surrounded by towering Aspens, and accompanied by the calls of woodpeckers.

For their June destination wedding day in classic white, we used giant, ruffly peonies, garden roses, and accented with fresh rosemary.

The bride wore a Lillian West lace dress with bell sleeves and a criss-cross back detail. Her maids wore champagne-colored dresses while the men wore 3-piece suits in black.

The day was captured by the excellent team from Natural Escape Photography.

Their sweet pup, Maui, joined them for the big day and I made her a greenery collar to wear for her wedding duties. She proudly wore it and grinned with happiness.

Manny Cakes baked this beauty - vegan AND gluten free for our couple and the decorated it with blackberry jam and fresh flowers. Despite the heat of the day, it was divine!

No 2020 wedding would be complete without a socially-distanced, masked picture.

Congratulations!

A Micro wedding in Wyoming

When planning a June wedding in Wyoming you risk all types of weather. It could be blustery, wet, and maybe even snow. Or, as we experienced for Delaney and Kalvin - the sun could be scorching hot with the wind blowing like a furnace. When I pulled onto the ranch for their wedding, my car read 102*.

Like most couples getting married in 2020, the plans changed for their wedding. Instead of the large gathering with family and friends from across the country at the family ranch where they met, these two decided to keep their wedding date and pare back the guestlist for a micro wedding on their family ranch.

We pivoted to an intimate ceremony overlooking the vast Wyoming prairie with the Big Horn Mountains in the distance but kept the lush garden roses and peonies from our original plan. The weekend was coordinated by Ashley Marie Weddings, Catered by Bonafide Food, and captured by Nate Griffin of Nashville, TN.

Due to the heat and extreme wind we faced that afternoon, I built the foundations of the ceremony pillars in an outbuilding and then transferred them to the ceremony spot in the back of our truck. Instead of our first plan over looking the valley on the edge of the bluff, we tucked into a juniper grove. This spot still had stunning views but was protected from the 30+mph gusts coming off the hot prairie below.

Congratulations to the sweetest couple!

A Wyoming Wildflower Wedding in July

These two met and fell in love in the Big Horn Mountains so it was only fitting to become Mr. and Mrs. in the place where it all started. Angelica and Alec planned a laid back week-long celebration at Paradise Ranch outside of Buffalo, WY. A Whirly Girl Flowers first - they were married on a Monday afternoon in the gorgeous chapel on the ranch and partied into the evening with a gourmet meal from Bonafide Food. The entire magical day was captured by the talented Cassie Madden from Sheridan, WY.

We used the glorious early summer meadows of Wyoming as inspiration for their wildflower themed day. The groom provided delicate and intricate feathers for the boutonnieres which complimented his custom-made feather bowtie from Twin-M Design.

The groom made me 24 matching cedar boxes for these pieces. They lined the windows in the chapel for the ceremony and then moved to decorate the tables in the gazebo for dinner. We used a few pheasant feathers to bring a little extra magic to the design and I’m in love with the look!

Cheers to move adventures, more travel, and a love that endures!
